UN Kosovo Team

Kosovo is administered by the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) based on Security Council Resolution 1244. As such Kosovo is still not required to prepare (United Nations Development Assistance Framework) document. The UN Agencies in Kosovo (UNKT), however, are working together towards creation of a common strategic results framework for the UN agencies’ (UNDAF) operation in Kosovo which will identify the underlying strategic outcomes of the agencies for the period of 2008-2010.

The UN Agencies in Kosovo are coordinated through the United Nations Kosovo Team (UNKT), chaired by the UNKT Development Coordinator Mr. Frode Mauring.

Strategic outcomes:

Health: By 2010 – Improve the provision of essential public health services to women, children and young population, based on best practices;

Education: By 2010 – completion rate of children in compulsory education has increased and quality and inclusive education ensured at all levels of education (pre-school, primary and secondary education);

Employment: Employment opportunities increased, particularly in economically lagging areas and among vulnerable groups;

Social Inclusion: The vulnerable groups of population including minorities  are assisted in the realization of their rights;

Governance: Improved governance characterized by strengthened justice and rule of law for everyone in Kosovo and improved management of public goods and delivery of public services.

Note: The definitions above are made in UN Heads of Agencies meetings in Kosovo. The definitions are working definitions and they may be subject to change.
